TISHS

The Templeton Unified School District is proud to have an excellent WASC accredited Independent Study High School (TISHS) which offers unique opportunities to 9-12 students and their families seeking alternative options to the traditional high school program. Students interested in setting their own pace of instruction leading to the opportunity to graduate early and/or begin their college studies while in high school will find this opportunity through TISHS.

We have students every year that graduate in less than four years while earning between 30-60 transferable credits from Cuesta College. They have received these college credits tuition-free.  In addition, enrollment in Independent Study provides students the flexibility to work and earn elective credit through our Work Experience program. Many existing students leverage this opportunity in order to help themselves or their families financially by working 20-30 hours per week leaving sufficient time to complete high school courses.

Students who have found it difficult to be successful in the traditional school system can gain the confidence and self-esteem they need through our individualized college prep and non-college prep core curriculum delivered in a one-on-one format. Students maintain the opportunity to take courses like Band, Chemistry and Welding at Templeton High School through the concurrent enrollment process.

Enrollment at TISHS provides additional time to devote to outside endeavors like sports, rodeo, equestrian, motocross, gymnastics, and the arts including dance, singing and theatre. Our students travel to horse shows around the state, to auditions in the entertainment industry in Southern California, to dance performances in New York City, or to gymnastics in the Central Valley.
